Ingredients:
Hamburgers:
• 1 – 2 carrots
• 1 onion
• 1 celery stalk
• 80 ml (⅓ cup) chopped fresh parsley
• 2 slices white bread
• 60 ml (¼ cup) milk
• 2 eggs
• 50 ml Worcestershire Sauce
• About 20 ml (4 teaspoons) olive oil
• 1 kg mince
• About 7 ml (1½ teaspoon) salt
• Freshly ground black pepper
• 7 ml (1½ teaspoon) ground cumin
To Serve:
• 6 – 8 bread rolls
• About 80 g butter
• Lettuce
• Ripe tomatoes, sliced
• Mayonnaise or other sauce of your choice
Method:
- Peel and grate the carrots, chop the onion, celery and parsley finely and soak the bread in the milk.
- Using your hands, mix all the hamburger ingredients in a large bowl.
- Cover a large tray with a sheet of wax paper. Chill the patties or freeze for later use.
- Halve the bread rolls and toast them on a hot griddle pan.
- Butter the toasted rolls.
- Wipe the riddle pan and heat until very hot. Grill the hamburger patties until done. Arrange each patty with lettuce and tomato on a bread roll half and top with a little mayonnaise or other sauce of your choice.
